Euro 2020: Gareth Bale disappointed after Denmark’s 4-0 win over Wales | National teams

Wales captain Gareth Bale removes Denmark from the European Championship after a 0-4 defeat, and regretted the referee’s performance, saying the 16th round elimination was “disappointing”. He conceded a second goal, which he considers to be a previous mistake.

“It’s disappointing, the guys are frustrated, they are angry. This is understandable,” Wales captain Rob Page, who did not attend the team’s press conference, was the only one present, he told the BBC after the match.

Real Madrid forward, who lent Tottenham last season, said Wales started well, but a mistake in the first goal and a second goal early in the second half knocked them out. “We started well in the first 25 minutes, we conceded a goal, the game changed a bit. We tried to play in the second half. Unfortunately we made a mistake, we conceded a goal, it killed us momentum,” he said.

Like his coach, the Welsh captain also scored a second goal on the field, and when he left the pitch he said he understood that referee Kiefer Moore must have misjudged him early in the play.

“I imagine the referee was distracted by the fans here, but that’s it. There’s no point in making excuses now. It’s disappointing, that’s all I can say,” said Joel Groove as he walked out of Amsterdam, where there was a clear majority of fans dancing.

The 31-year-old Real Madrid player was left disappointed when asked by a reporter if it would be his last game with the Welsh national team tonight.
