Cruise ends his international career focusing on Madrid

German midfielder Tony Cruise has announced the end of his international career with a full focus on his goals with Real Madrid.

The player said on his Instagram account that this was a previously considered result, as his 2-0 defeat to England in the second round of the Eurocup was his last international match.

“I ‘ve played 106 times for Germany, not one more time. I would have given everything I wanted, because it ended my life with 109 games and a European Championship title,” Cruz said.

Cruise made his debut for the German national team in March 2010 and started for the team that was crowned world champion in 2014.

“Some time ago I decided to leave the national team after the tournament. It was clear to me that I would not be available first for Qatar 2022 because I want to focus on goals with Real Madrid,” he said.

“For this I need an internationally non-existent gap of 11 years,” he added.

Cruise concluded his message by saying that it was an honor to wear the national team jersey and thanked fans, team players and now former coach Joachim Low.

“First of all I want to thank Jogi Low, he made me an international and world champion. He trusted me. We have written a long history of success,” he said.
