On Friday (22), at the Colégio Rocha Pombo, the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, presented the Vision Project, which uses artificial intelligence to promote inclusion and guarantee the quality of life of people with visual disabilities.

“The project shows the importance of technology for health, giving autonomy to people with visual disabilities. A project that improves the quality and comfort of people’s lives ”, explains the Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation, Giles Balbinotti.

The project includes glasses with a device that instantly reads texts, screens or any other surface, communicating to the person what is in front of them. It also recognizes faces, helps with purchases, among other options. The device has Israeli technology.

The project coordinator and head of the Science, Technology and Innovation Development division, Carlos Pontim, together with the director Kátia Bertol, explained that the next step is to conduct a survey on the demand of people with visual disabilities throughout the city , in order to be able to do so. the acquisition of the device. Still, they reinforced the importance of technology to help teach the visually impaired.

Currently, the Municipal Education Network has two totally blind students and five with low vision.

“Our commitment with the Administration is to look for alternatives that improve the life of the white duck, giving them conditions. This device will help a lot, especially in the learning of our children ”, emphasizes the mayor of Pato Branco, Robson Cantu.
