Five technical careers with the greatest female presence, according to Senati | Science and Technology | ECONOMY

Due to their increasing employability, more and more women are deciding to study a career in technology, engineering and mathematics.

According to UNESCO, 35% of women study STEM careers In the world, 28% of women work in research and 22% of women work in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to the Senati Institute, in the last 10 years there has been a sustained increase in women in technical technology careers, multiplying by 4.5, with respect to the female student population in 2011.

Currently, 23% of Senati’s student population is female. That is, 16,000 students nationwide.

Why is the presence of women in STEM careers important?

“As for careers related to technology, these are specialties that require programming and analysis, in addition to that women achieve many times better finishes in jobs,” Jorge Chávez, Senati’s academic manager, told gestion.pe.

Likewise, it specified that the technical careers in which there is a greater presence of women are: Technician in garment design (95%); Textile manufacturer (95%); Technician in Garment Production Processes (91%); Fashion Design and Management (90%); and Textile Quality Control (88%).

According to information from INEI, 32% of graduates of STEM careers are women in Peru.

For this reason, on the occasion of celebrating the Bicentennial of Peru, through the Cisco Networking Academy activities are being generated with Minedu and América Digital, aimed at serving student populations with the aim of bringing them closer to IT-oriented technical programs.

The first program “STEM Girls of the 2021 Bicentennial″, Is aimed at 200 students in 5th grade of public schools nationwide, in science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM (for its acronym in English) courses.

“For us it is very important to participate in projects that benefit future students of technical careers. Our instructors will awaken the interest of high school students in the careers that are now setting the trend and that are requested by companies ”, the academic manager of Senati.

Thus, two technical courses will be offered, Network Administration – CCNA 1 and Python Programming, which will be carried out in a period of two months and will be dictated by the Senati School of Information Technology (ETI).

While the implementation, management, monitoring and support to the students will be carried out by the América Digital Support Center.

The 200 students will receive 140 hours (synchronous and asynchronous) of training in both courses.

The topics that will be covered are: Networks, where you will learn to create local area networks (LAN) that integrate IP addressing schemes, basic network security and configurations for routers and switches.

Also Programming, to design, write, debug and execute programs encoded in the Python language and the Internet of Things, where multidisciplinary skills in this matter are deepened through the definition, design, prototyping and presentation of a solution of Internet of things before a panel of experts from the sector and peers.

Students who have completed the assessments for each course will receive certificates of completion, digital badges, and a letter of congratulations.
