President Louis Abinader presided over the graduation ceremony of 53 new naval officers this Saturday at a ceremony held at the Naval Academy headquarters in Avenida Espana.

Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Diaz Morphe, Minister of Defense; Vice Admiral Ramon Gustavo Botanes Hernandez, Commander-in-Chief of the Dominican Republic Navy; And Director of the National Police, Maj. Gen. Eduardo Alberto Honey and Vice Admiral Gabriel Alfonso Perez Corse of the Colombian Navy.

Of the 53 new officers, nine were women and 42 were men with bachelor’s degrees in naval science and promoted to lieutenant in Corvette.

The Minister of Defense presented diplomas to the seventieth (LXX) promotion graduates of the Women and Gentlemen Classes for the year 2018-2021, which recognizes them as graduates in Naval Science. On behalf of his colleagues, Rosemary Jimenez Biono was honored with the title of Honor.

International decorations

The Head of State, Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Dominican Republic presented the “Naval Merit” with the Medal of Honor to the Colombian Commander-in-Chief, Vice Admiral Gabriel Alfonso Perez Corses. .

In the same vein, the commander of the Colombian Navy presented Mitshipman with a gift of immense “duty”.

During the ceremony, Abinader and the Argentine Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Nora Elizabeth Capello, presented the “Armada de Argentina” award to the honorary graduate, Jimenez Biano.

After presiding over the graduation ceremony of 53 Navy Lieutenants, President Louis Abinader unveiled the Dominican Navy-listed naval club and expressed his pride in front of the men and women who are part of the Armed Forces.

“I am proud of the Armed Forces, the integrity, dedication, patriotism and ethics of their work,” he said.

As a result of his admiration for companies defending the country, he announced the purchase of 300 vehicles, including trucks, buses and engines, to further improve the military’s ability to do its job.
