A total of five motorcyclists have been denounced during the past weekend for failing to comply with the regulations regarding circulation in the Sierra Nevada natural area. All this after Seprona Civil Guard agents, Environment agents and Forest guards from the National and Natural Park have carried out joint surveillance services.
During the regular security services the agents have verified the presence of motorcycles and quads that circulate through areas with limited or prohibited traffic within the natural area, which has led to the organization of specific control services with the aim of enforcing the regulations and thereby minimizing the possible damage that these practices cause to the natural environment and the inconvenience caused to other users.
The legislation of the natural space is clear with respect to the circulation of motorcycles, quads and similar vehicles, which are allowed to transit only on roads or paved roads.
Some areas where there is a greater presence of these vehicles What has been detected are the Sierra del Manar and Cerro Huenes, in the municipalities of Monachil, La Zubia, Dílar and Padul, which are also very popular with cyclists, runners and hikers who usually use this natural space as a recreation area due to the viewpoints. and the numerous existing forest trails and trails.
The control carried out in one of the Cerro Huenes sites, it has made it possible to intercept five motorcyclists who had traveled cross-country with trial-type motorcycles, and who have been denounced for various infractions typified in environmental and traffic legislation.
The damage caused by the ruts of this type of vehicle are more damaging, if possible, due to the unique dolomite geology of these places that constitutes the habitat of endemic and threatened species of Sierra Nevada. To this must be added the inconvenience and sometimes the risk of being run over by other users.
