Science / The sixth edition of “Murcia Divulga en el Museo” returns this weekend

Murcia, February 21, 2021. The Association for Scientific Publishing of the Region of Murcia (ADCMurcia) and the Museum of Science and Water of Murcia present a new edition of the cycle of scientific publishing conferences “Murcia Divulga en el Museo” with the aim of returning to the general perspective of science and publishing it after a few years in which the health state set the course in Publishing panorama.

These media activities will be taught in person and online by renowned researchers and distributors who will bring their work and developments in their field of study closer to all types of audiences.

The course will start with a double date on February 25th and 26th. The premiere of “Raíces de la Astronomía” will take place on Friday 25 at 6 pm, the new planetarium program developed by the Scientific Publishing Association of the Region of Murcia within the “Cultural Reagents” program of the City of Murcia Council. A tour of the cultural heritage left by the different civilizations that inhabited the lands of Murcia throughout its history. The first show, which was postponed until the health situation allowed.

On Saturday, February 26 at 12 noon, the “Learning Chemistry with Basic Tools” lecture by Professor and ADCM Member, Juan Carlos García de las Buenas will take place, strengthening the communication vessel between publishing and education. As Juan Carlos himself points out “In institutes, in proportions like ours, it becomes useless, both for physical space and for classroom laboratory control, to use specific laboratory instruments.” So in the talk the basic concepts of chemistry will be explained along with the corresponding explanation of the phenomenon associated with them. Real lab practice will be reproduced, although adding “little things” prevents that time and format from being done in class.

Recruitments for this course will be made during the first half of 2022. After initial activities, the course will continue on March 26, World Climate Day, with those in charge of the Hope! It is a series to mobilize awareness in the face of the climate crisis. On April 7th, World Health Day, it will be the role of Patricia Ripoll, Health Sciences Communications Officer and Head of interesting projects such as CovidWarriors and Aireamos, which have been very important lately. On May 12, International Women in Mathematics Day, the role of one of Spain’s best mathematicians and publishers, Clara Grima, will take place, and we will conclude the course in June with the participation of publisher Fernando Jomolón Bell, who will finish the course. Bringing the latest applications and news about the material of the future, graphene, that he is working on through the EU’s flagship graphene project.
