G7 leaders mocked some photos of Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit in southern Germany on Sunday. There he appears with bare chest, teased as to whether he could take out something similar.
“Jackets? Jackets? Can we take off our coats?” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was asked to sit at the table.
Leaders of major Western economic powers –United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, England-– Elmav meet for three days at the Bavarian castle.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested they wait for the official photo before undressing, but Johnson joked: “We have to show that we are tougher than Putin.” And the comedy continued.
Referring to a photo of Putin riding a horse without a shirt in 2009, Trudeau said, “We are going to have a bare-chested horse show.”
“Horseback riding is best”, Ursula van der Leyen, head of the European Commission, responded without comment.
“We want to show them our becks,” Johnson added.
Finally, the leaders with their jackets on – posed for a photo session before the journalists left the room.
