(CNN Spanish) — President of ColombiaGustavo Pedro, this Saturday, announced that he signed a decree – among others- suspending the arrest and extradition orders for those who resume the role of negotiators. National Liberation Army (later).
During an event in San Pablo, in the Bolivar department, Pedro added that the move seeks to “make a path quickly and quickly where the organization is a rebel guerrilla in Colombia.”
On August 11, a Colombian government commission led by Foreign Minister Alvaro Leyva and Peace Commissioner Danilo Ruta said it was exploring the possibility of resuming peace talks, which have been stalled since 2019.
