Outfielder and first baseman Billy McKinney signed with the New York Yankees this Saturday, December 31, the last signing of 2022 for the Bronx Bombers.
McKinney agreed to a minor league contract and was immediately assigned to the Yankees’ Triple-A roster, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
However, the move won’t be a deterrent for New York to invite him to the 2023 training camp.

It’s the second since Billy McKinney was part of the 2016 trade that brought the Chicago Cubs to the historic World Series against Cleveland.
At age 28, McKinney has played part of 5 seasons in the Major Leagues with 6 teams (Blue Jays, Mets, Dodgers, Athletics, Brewers and Yankees, with whom he made his MLB debut in 2018).
However, his stats are surprisingly poor to believe that this move by the Yankees will take him beyond Triple-A.
