Painting and sculpture share a location at Espacio Beny

From tomorrow until May 13, Espacio Beny will host a fusion of painting and sculpture with an exhibition by artists Rafael Alonso and Mikel Lertxundi. Alonso, now deceased, was one of the most prominent national artists in the watercolor technique, and his work is on display in large spaces in Vigo such as the Museo Quinones de León or the Fundacion, as well as in private hands all over the world.

Miquel Lercondi, for his part, has had an extensive and extensive sculptural career. Before his first visit to Galicia, the sculptor admitted that he “was very interested to exhibit here. Let’s see my work in those areas.” He confirmed that once he received the proposal from Espacio Beny “I didn’t think about it, I said yes at the moment because it seemed very interesting to me”.

Lertxundi’s work will consist of twelve pieces, in small format, and between three and four pieces in medium size: “It’s a work based on wood, iron and stone, something I’ve worked on a lot,” he emphasized, without leaning towards some of them. It will be shown for a month at the Vigo Gallery. “I think they can all be fun for the viewer. I hope and hope so.”

The sculptor wanted to give the idea more importance than the size of his work, something that is “difficult to achieve and most time consuming,” praising the work of Rafael Alonso, “a watercolourist by volume.” His work is very good, with a decent mix of volume and flat action.”
