Segura punished the Cubs with a ninth golden win

MIAMI — Gene Segura hit a game-tying RBI single to lead the Miami Marlins to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday.

Cuban Jorge Soler led off with a single to ignite the rally. Michael Rucker (1-1) struck out Luis Ares and Avisail Garcia before Segura singled up the middle with a close frame for the game-winning hit.

AJ Book (3-0) had three strikeouts for the win. Chicago put two runners on with two outs in the top of the ninth, but Nelson Velasquez grounded out to second.

Miami improved to 8-0 in one-run games this season. The Marlins are also 3-0 in their teal jerseys.

The Cubs squandered a strong outing from Marcus Stroman, who allowed two runs and six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

For the Cubs, Puerto Rican Nelson Velasquez scored a run in a 4-1 victory.

For the Marlins, Dominican Jean Segura went 4-2 with two RBIs and Jesus Sanchez went 2-0 with a run scored. Luis Ares of Venezuela scored a run at 2-1, Avisail Garcia at 3-1. Cuban Jorge Soler 4-1.
