The Phillies swept the broom against the Rays with a win in 11 innings

ST PETERSBURG — Kyle Schwarber and Trey Turner had RBI singles in the 11th inning and the Philadelphia Phillies extended the Rays’ losing streak to five by completing a three-game sweep with a 3-1 win on Thursday.

Schwarber struck out Ryan Thompson (1-2), the eighth pitcher out of Tampa Bay’s bullpen, and Turner followed with another single.

Matt Strahm (3-3) pitched two innings for Philadelphia, which has won 12 straight road games and is one shy of the team record it set in 1976.

Tampa Bay lost a home sweep for the first time this season and is 34-13 at Tropicana Field.

Rays pitchers struck out 13, walked none and allowed four hits in 10 innings. He had a home run by the Rays, leaders of the American League, Mexican Isaac Paredes. 6-11 in last 17 games.

For the Phillies, Panamanian Edmondo Sosa scored a run in a 0-0 tie.

For the Rays, Cuba’s Yandy Diaz is 3-1 and Randy Arosarena is 4-0. Dominicans Vander Franco 5-1, Manuel Marcotte 4-0, Jose Siri 4-1. Panama Christian Bethancourt 4-0. Colombian Harold Ramirez is 4-0. Mexican Isaac Paredes went 4-1 with a run and an RBI.
