Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States on Wednesday, December 20, at a ceremony scheduled for the Washington Capital. During the speech, he appeared to be asleep as the 42nd President of the United States, who led the White House from 1993 to 2001.

After the new president was sworn in, he addressed the guests:
“We can re-strengthen America. I urge all Americans to join me in restoring unity. There is no peace without unity, only bitterness and anger. Unity is the way forward.
We as the United States must meet this moment. We need to start listening again. Misunderstandings should not be the way to war. America should be better than that.
We will repair alliances and cooperate with the world again. We will be guided by the power of example. We will be a partner for peace and security.
Today we see the emergence of political extremism, white supremacy and internal terrorism. We have to face them and we will defeat them, “said Joe Biden, chief of The Christian Science Monitor’s Washington bureau.
