Corbin Carroll hit 25 home runs and had 50 steals in the Diamondbacks’ win

PHOENIX — Merrill Kelly pitched 6 2/3 solid innings, Corbin Carroll hit his 25th home run and 50 steals of the season and the Arizona Diamondbacks won their fifth straight game against the San Francisco Giants 7-1.

The D-backs swept the two-game series. They have a one-game lead over the Chicago Cubs for the second of three NL wild-card spots.

The Giants have lost five of their last six, falling to 76-76 on the season and 3 1/2 games out of the last playoff berth.

Kelly (12-7) allowed one run on three hits, walked two and struck out five. The veteran right-hander rebounded after a rough outing in New York last week, allowing seven runs in five innings against the Mets.

San Francisco right-hander Logan Webb (10-13) allowed three runs on nine hits. He walked two and struck out six in six innings.

For the Giants, Tyro Estrada of Venezuela is 3-1; and Luis Matos 4-0.

For the Diamondbacks, Venezuelan Gabriel Moreno was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Dominicans Ketel Marte 4-1, one run and one RBI; Geraldo Bertomo 4-0. Puerto Rican Emmanuel Rivera went 1 for 4 with an RBI. Cuba Lourdes Curiel Jr. 3-1.
