Malasa residents reclaim public space for use by children and adults – El Diario

During the day on Saturday, officials from the Citizens and Neighbors Security Directorate and the authorities of the Mayor of Malasa restored a public space in the Las Tunas sector for the enjoyment of children and adults. After community weeding, repair of the perimeter net, painting of the sidewalk and swings, as well as reforestation of the park, the area will have a recreational setting.
“We are restoring a green space within the framework of the Raud Programme, which consists of restoring, allocating, using and enjoying green spaces. It is a park in which we reforest and landscape the spaces in cooperation with the neighbors, employees of the Citizens Security Directorate and the Malasa Sub-Mayor’s Office, so that this sector is mainly used by children.” . Citizen Security in the Office of the Mayor of La Paz, Carlos Clavijo.
For some time now, officials from the Citizen Security Directorate have been implementing the Raud Programme, an operation to restore, allocate and use green spaces, in coordination with neighbors and sub-mayors of the seven urban areas, with the purpose of providing safer spaces for girls, boys and the elderly.
“The goal is to create a feeling of security and well-being to prevent (green areas) from becoming places for the consumption of alcoholic beverages or the presence of bad guys and to have more security. This is a matter not only of the municipal government, but also depends on the participation of the residents of the area,” Clavijo stressed.
