China and the United States are resuming talks between their armed forces, despite ongoing disputes over China’s claims to Taiwan and the South China Sea.
Chinese reports, which have yet to be confirmed by Washington, indicate that the United States will send a representative of the defense department to participate in an international meeting organized by the Chinese Ministry of Defense. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss international cooperation on security issues and to enhance China’s status as a world power.
It is noteworthy that China suspended military exchanges following the visit of then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan in August last year. Taiwan is considered its own territory by China.
