A stunning finish to a medal-taking 4x400m relay that was hard to predict.

Cuba’s Lisneidi I. ran 3:33.15 in the 4×400. Vaidea, Rose M. Almanza, Sahili Diego and Jurion Hechavarria won gold. A difficult prediction.

With this victory, Cuba reached 30 gold medals, a result that exceeded the expected maximum quota of 22 titles in this continental event.

Athletics’ contribution has a lot to do with this result, with seven crowns this season and some decent performances.

One of them is precisely the women in the long relay, especially for beating the Dominican Republic in this final (3:34.27), a quartet close to the 400-meter world title winner Mariliti Paulino.

Likewise, the Cuban women’s victory has another important qualification: achieving it without the presence of their main runner, Roxana Gomez.

Likewise, Sahili Diego and Rose Marie Almanza did so just one and a half hours after winning the gold and bronze medals respectively in the 800m final.

Brazil was third with a time of 3:34.80 seconds.
