Two dead, seven injured in CitiPlace Doral crash – Telemundo Miami (51)

Two people were killed and seven others, including a police officer, were wounded in a shooting early Saturday morning at CityPlace Doral, authorities said.

The incident began with an argument between customers at a martini bar around 3:30 a.m. A security guard intervened and a man shot and killed him inside the establishment, Miami-Dade Police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta said.

Several Doral police officers confronted the suspect and at least two fired their weapons, killing the man. Zabaleta said one of the police officers was injured and six others, two women and four men, were injured and taken to hospital. Two of the injured are in critical condition.

“At this time the Department of Law Enforcement is gathering all the evidence and talking to all the witnesses who were here who may have information related to this incident,” Zabaleta said.

Officials confirmed the injured police officer had been with the agency for four years and was released from Jackson Memorial Hospital after treatment.

Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez described the officers who confronted the suspect as “heroes” and highlighted the training police agencies receive.

Exactly one year ago, several Miami-Dade County police agencies participated in active shooter training at the same site.
