Who will be Argentina's opponent in the Copa America quarterfinals?

The Albiceleste were the first to qualify for the knockout round. This is their way to the finals.

This Tuesday, June 25, Argentina became the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals of Copa America 2024, thanks to a 1-0 victory over Chile, with a goal from Lautaro Martínez on the throw of the match.

And the Albiceleste secured the de facto first place in Group A, although Canada has a mathematical probability of leading, but football logic indicates that it will be very difficult to descend from the top to the 'Scaloneta'.

On Matchday 3 of Group A, Argentina will face Peru and Canada will face Chile on Saturday, June 29 (7:00 p.m. Colombian time). Only if Peru beat the Albiceleste and Canada beat Chile will Scaloni's team finish second…which seems unlikely.

Argentina now await a challenger for the quarter-finals, with teams advancing through Group A facing teams from B.

Therefore, the competitor will come second from Group B consisting of Venezuela, Mexico, Jamaica and Ecuador. To date, the odds are for Mexico to occupy Box 2, but face Venezuela this Wednesday to define that position.

The quarter-finals will take place from Thursday 4th July to Saturday 6th July. If Argentina advances to the semi-finals, it could again face Chile, Canada or Peru, or the leader of Group B emerging from the four possibilities already mentioned.

The final will be held on July 14 and Argentina will be hoping to be there to defend their title.
