Mexico City /
Chelsea have officially announced Joao Felix as their signing after signing him from Atletico de Madrid for €50m.
“Chelsea is in. We are happy to announce the signing of Jono Felix from Atlético de Madrid. Go home again,” the club noted on its social networks.
It didn't go well for Atletico
Hopes were pinned on him, with the Colconero club paying €127 million for his services and presenting him at the Prado Museum in 2019, but there were more gray moments than bright moments.
Joao didn't live up to expectations, he couldn't earn Simeone's trust, so he was loaned out, and his sale ends up being the case today.
In his two-and-a-half seasons under Simeone, he showed his quality, but he did not maintain it, he had mediocre performances and could not adapt to a style of play.
Joao Felix was loaned out to Barcelona but he never caught Xavi's fancy, never earning a title and his time with the Cubs was a gray one.
His attitude wasn't the best during the season, he made headlines against the Colconero club and was controversial, which is why the fans didn't want him back.
Finally, with another four-year contract with a club that recouped part of the investment, Atletico de Madrid will sell him to Chelsea, with whom he will sign for six seasons, a deal that was closed this Monday.
In January 2023, Atletico loaned him to the London outfit for six months for $11 million, and now they are buying him permanently.
