Typhoon Pepinka's impact is causing chaos in China's economic capital, Shanghai, whose powerful column has been documented by many citizens who have shared it on social networks. Bepinca's presence is the most powerful since 1949, according to local media CCTV.

Typhoon Pepinka caused authorities to close highways and evacuate residents, mainly from coastal areas. The typhoon first passed through southern Japan and made landfall at Linggang New City in Pudong District around 7:30 a.m. local time, AFP reported.

Chaos takes over Shanghai and they are asked not to leave the house
Shanghai's two main airports canceled all flights due to the typhoon's arrival on China's east coast, one of the country's most populous regions. Shanghai's municipal authority advised its 25 million residents not to leave their homes.
In addition, it displaced 9,000 people from Chongming County, an island located at the mouth of the Yangtze River. They closed highways starting at midnight and imposed a 40 km/h speed limit within the city.

The typhoon's arrival coincides with the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, during which the country's railway operator expects about 74 million passengers, state-run Xinhua news agency said on Saturday. The Disaster Management Ministry has asked officials to be alert due to “stronger movement” of people during these holidays.
