He points out during a press conference that five years after its creation, this mission has been carried out together with institutions, sponsors, allies and people who “have similar values” to the project: generating a new way of living together in the historic center, walking through pedestrian streets and generating links of cooperation between commercial spaces such as cafes, hotels and restaurants.
“We know that there are problems like depopulation or gentrification; however, as a citizen project, what we can do is work specifically with the active community, and if the centre is more populated at the time of the housing development, we will gladly work with the people who live there at that time,” he said when introducing the fifth edition of Patio which will run from September 28 to October 6.
At the moment, he mentioned that The Patio forms a community with those who live in the historic center, which is “very active, organizes itself, joins projects, stimulates the economy and cares about what happens” in the first image of the city of Puebla.
He pointed out that since its first edition in 2020, Patio has opened 39 courtyards free of charge to the public, with about 30,000 visitors in person accessing the participating courtyards and their buildings.
Activities, plus more than 600 people who make the meetings possible, such as owners, residents, professionals and participating students.
It is clear that over the course of four months, the teams exchanged experiences and worked on their temporary installation in monthly sessions where they discussed historical heritage, contemporary art and society. Through this process, the teams were connected to the owners and yards that would receive their pieces.
In this way, the patios and spaces of this edition will be Casa Benítez -5 Poniente 134- which will be inhabited by the installation reflections on the (shared) reality of the team; Casa de la Siempreviva -7 Poniente 316-, with the piece Segundas Líneas, by MUNA; Centro Cultural D'Los -5 Sur 506-, intervention in the work Intersección, by Interna Colectivo; Casa Santa Inés -3 Sur 905-, with the piece Verbena by the Molecular Collective; and Casa de La Aduana Vieja -2 Oriente 409-, which will host the piece “Meeting Place” by Dionne Arquitectos, the guest office of the edition.
The courtyards can be visited freely from 12 noon to 6 pm from Monday to Friday and from 10 am to 8 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
In addition to the tour of the courtyards, and with the idea of promoting local consumption, the festival adds the Puntos Patio initiative, with the establishments Clemente, Bestiario Centro, Gospel Barra de Café, Los Vampiros Emparedados, Ferdinand Barra de Café, San Jorgeto, Hot Pork and Cordelia Social Bar.
In your case, the academic courtyard will be on Thursday, October 3, at 4 p.m., in the hall of the “Gilberto Bosques Saldívar” library, with the participation of María Teresa Cordero, Mariano Castellanos, Elba Cervantes and Perla Ramos.
