Chocó was chosen to represent the Pacific region in Science, Technology and Innovation

The day featured the presen cia of the President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez; During the first day, the leaders defined the delegated governors for the Governing Commission of the General System of Royalties (SGR), the Collegiate Body of Administration and Decision (OCAD) of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Fund for Financing the Educational Infrastructure ( FFIE), the Savings and Stabilization Fund (FAE) and other territorial articulation committees together with the National Planning Department (DNP) and the ministries of Education and Finance.

Regarding the OCAD of Science, Technology and Innovation; body in charge of increasing the scientific, technological, innovation and competitiveness capacity of the regions, the governor of Chocó, Ariel Palacios Calderón, was chosen to represent the Pacific region.

The second day of the Summit was accompanied by three working sessions between the National Government and the Departments. In these spaces, actions were defined that will facilitate a safe economic reactivation in all regions, as well as an optimal development of the Mass Vaccination Plan proposed by the Ministry of Health.

In one voice, the leaders expressed their total willingness to promote the sustainable development actions proposed in the first Departmental Summit of 2021; Well, “we are facing a new panorama of royalties in Colombia, with a new system, which after many adjustments, surely, will bring better options for the regions to access more resources,” said Didier Tavera, executive director of the National Federation of Departments.

During the Summit, Nicolás García Bustos, governor of Cundinamarca, took office as the new president of the National Federation of Departments for the period 2021 – 2022, in addition to confirming the support of the National Federation of Departments for all governors, to ensure timely accompaniment and to be an effective communication channel between the National Government and the territorial entities in the implementation of this new system ”.
