Women’s football: A jersey from another planet: Orlando Pride launches its kit into space with NASA

From space. This is how Orlando Pride has presented its new jersey for the 2021-22 season. The NWSL team, which corresponds to the United States Women’s First Division, has announced the kit by sending it into space through NASA on Wednesday night. A fact that has left a spectacular and iconic image of the shirt, called Ad Astra (Towards the stars, in Spanish), with the earth in the background.

The Orlando Pride kit, in which the legendary Marta and world star Alex Morgan play, has a great story behind it. Inspired by Florida’s Space Coast and the women who broke barriers and served as an example to other generations, The jersey represents a spatial design with stars and features black, purple, the club’s iconic color, and white for the letters.

One of the most symbolic details of the shirts is in one of the lower corners of the shirt, where a patch with a space capsule appears, representing the Apollo 11, which was the one who sent the first humans to the moon. Also included are the words ‘Ad Astra’ and three stars symbolizing the Immortal NASA “Hidden Figures”: Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, They broke the race and gender barriers at NASA.
