Messenger's plan is to allow reactions in states similar to the functionality that already exists in chats in the app. For the unsuspecting, in mid-2022 Messenger added the possibility to respond to messages without the need to create a new one in the conversation; This is thanks to interactions with emojis. Instead of writing “okay”, “give” or “good”, it's classic to give a thumbs up as an answer.
The screenshot shows a test of the functionality in Apple's iOS version of Messenger. In practice, it allows users to act with hearts for statuses like a kind of “like”.
Status section in WhatsApp is a separate section from traditional chats, communities and channels. Basically, they allow a kind of interaction similar to Instagram Stories, with ephemeral content that disappears 24 hours after the original publication.
