An interesting dialogue between science and art

The pandemic has been a pivotal and transformative moment in my artistic life. During that period, I felt the need to connect more with nature and to take an interest in the approach of biological sciences, which awakened within me the need to explore the relationship between art and the environment. This interest led me to work in collaboration with biologists, exploring scientific methodologies and concepts in search of points of contact between artistic processes, and generating a space of training and content where the body discovers new physical possibilities, immersive experiences, and new observational and perceptual horizons.

In relation to nature, the artistic dimension facilitates sensitive experiences of environmental stimuli, leading to the perception of an extended and interwoven corporeality in constant interaction and development. In this way, a continuous dialogue between science and art becomes possible, generating new forms of knowledge and production that allow for a deeper understanding of our environment and how we interact with it, breaking down barriers between disciplines.

From this new perspective, I developed the Libélula platform, a space where artists and scientists dialogue and collaborate to create educational experiences, encouraging integration, research and experimentation as an essential part of creative and ecological practice, and promoting and disseminating scientific knowledge through new means. artistic proposals. This approach attempts to propose a new perspective on the ecosystem environment in which we are immersed.

The itinerary of Plataforma Libélula was wide and varied. From the residences of the “extended body in green” in the Costanera Sur Reserve to the Dance and Ecological Biology in collaboration with the University of the Arts of the UNA Movement. Secret Place, which premiered at the Buenos Aires International Theater Festival, is a proposal for an installation tour of dance, music and theater that took us to several ecological reserves and natural spaces in our country such as Misiones, Rio Negro, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires.

My latest show, Noa, Noa and the Whale, is aimed at children and families, combining dance, theatre, music and scientific knowledge about whales. Through their mobile radio show, Noa Radio, Noa and Noa embark on a journey of discovery and adventure, with the challenge of deciphering whale songs and coming to their aid. Not only do they explore the fascinating world of whales, they also discover the transformative power of communication and listening. In the radio show, they are taught the importance of sharing stories and knowledge, creating a time of day when they can step out of their routine and come together with their “radio listeners” to form a community united by a love of freedom, nature and the desire to learn about and care for it. The work highlights the need to preserve and protect it.

Through Noa, Noa and the Whale we propose an original, fun and poetic experience about whales and the aquatic world. Through an audio and visual proposal, we try to awaken and stimulate curiosity for knowledge, the power of imagination, solidarity and a sense of responsibility towards the environment, and to show how each one of us can contribute with a grain of sand to a better, sustainable and peaceful world.

This interdisciplinary approach that unites art and science offers new tools and perspectives to address today’s environmental challenges. Creativity and scientific knowledge can be sensitively intertwined to make a positive impact on society by inspiring innovative and sustainable ideas and actions that promote the preservation of and harmony with nature.

We are waiting for you during the winter holidays from Thursday to Sunday always at Teatro El Cubo.
