The President of the Government of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, this afternoon visited the Scientific and Technological Complex accompanied by the rector of the University of La Rioja, Juan Carlos Ayala, the Regional Minister of Development, José Ángel Lacalzada, and the general director of the University and Scientific Policy, Pilar Vargas. During the visit, organized on the occasion of the World Science Day, President Andreu has been able to see first-hand the projects that are being developed in the facilities of the experimental greenhouse on the Rioja campus, where both students and teachers develop their research practices and programs. Also the «Beronia» supercomputing cluster created by researchers from various departments of the University of La Rioja, which has calculation capabilities far superior to the common ones and which is aimed at solving the calculation problems posed by various research teams. In addition, he has shared a meeting with a group of researchers from the University of La Rioja to become interested in the projects they are currently working on and exchange views on the challenges and difficulties they face in carrying out their usual activity.
Meeting with CIBIR researchers
Also on the occasion of World Science Day, The president of the Government of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, visited the Center for Biomedical Research of La Rioja (CIBIR) this afternoon, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Sara Alba, the managing director of the Rioja Salud Foundation, Sergio Martínez, and the Scientific Director of the CIBIR, José Ramón Blanco.
During the visit, President Andreu had the opportunity to learn in detail and from the professionals themselves the activity that is being carried out at the center dedicated to health research and scientific excellence. The meeting has served to highlight that science and its development is one of the priority lines for the Government of La Rioja, not in vain, the executive’s budget allocated to research for 2022 has increased notably in a clear and determined commitment for continuing to support the CIBIR and the work carried out in it.
In addition, the president, Concha Andreu, has valued the objective of the Government of La Rioja that the CIBIR, together with the San Pedro Hospital and the University of La Rioja, receive certification as a Health Research Institute, which would allow greater fluidity of knowledge and access to different international research.
Support for scientific dissemination
