Aptiv received an international award for invention

Juarez- Designed and developed by Aptiv’s Connection Systems team, which includes more than a dozen engineers from Mexico’s Technical Center in Juarez, the Solid State Electricity Center has been awarded the 2021 PACE Award, given to the 14 best design innovations for vehicle components in the world, the company said in a press release.

The award-winning device improves vehicle architecture by replacing electromechanical components (relays) and thermal components (fuses) with semiconductors that will be required in future vehicles using new ADAS (Advance Driver Assistance Systems) methods, as shown.

This helps automakers improve cable sizes, reduce electrical system cost, package weight and size, and enable diagnostic and intelligent power management features to support ADAS, functional safety requirements, autonomous driving, and manifest details.

The company highlighted that this piece is also manufactured at the Aptiv Juárez 1 plant, so the award has a meaning closely related to operations in Mexico.

“We are very proud that it is a product that has been designed here in Juarez at MTC, from the beginning,” said Gabriel Estrada Garcia, an engineer working alongside Alejandro Ortega and Rosa Angela Contreras. / Computer Electronic Design), which began developing this device since 2015.

The PACE Automotive News Awards are awarded each year to innovations in the design of vehicle components for safer electrification and driving.

This year, the program awarded 14 companies in recognition of their advancements in products and technology, in an online presentation on Thursday, September 30th. The winners also included new digital solutions in the way vehicles are sold. The PACE Awards are sponsored by the Auto Parts Manufacturers Association of Canada.
