The Autonomous University of Tlaxcala organizes the international forum “Science for what? Towards new research paradigms”
Many people may question the importance of science, said Juan Pedro Laclet San Román, researcher emeritus at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, but it is an essential aspect for the sustainable development of the country and allows overcoming deadly inequalities and social inequalities. Laclet-Saint-Roman went to Tlaxcala to give the conference “Interdisciplinary networks, a model for increasing the social impact of scientific work”, to share her experience as a scientific researcher.
Among his works, the study of human parasitic diseases prevalent in Mexico stands out, and during the Covid-19 pandemic he was involved in developing a project to combat the virus.
During the launch of the International Forum “Science for What?” Towards new research paradigms”, organized by the Observatory of the Autonomous University of Tlaxcala (UATx), the speaker stressed that the trinity of science, technology and innovation can generate wealth, meet people’s needs and enhance social well-being, hence the importance of research.
