The Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, warned this Friday afternoon that in response to PUD member Biagio Pilieri's statements about the presidential election results, anyone who promotes the “usurpation of the activities” of the CNE will face a crime.
Here's what he said in a message on his X account on Twitter:
“In the face of the irresponsible statements of the MP, Piaggio Billieri, within the framework of respect and compliance with the legal system of our country, anyone who incites or promotes the usurpation of the exclusive functions of the National Electoral Council (CNE) is warned. A crime.
Consequently, since it is a crime to usurp the normal functions of the governing body in electoral matters, and since its purpose is to create confusion and anxiety among the people, this public ministry will immediately initiate – if this happens – the relevant investigation and the author or authors of such acts will be detained based on what is established in the law and the constitution.
