Bolivia advances in nuclear science and technology, president says

Ars hailed the arrival of 186 packages weighing 43 tons of the latest equipment to the Amazonian Andean country for the RB-01 nuclear research reactor of the Center for Research and Development in Nuclear Technology (Cidtn), based in the United States. City of Alto.

He said on social media about the arrival of those components at Santa Cruz Airport, which will later be transferred to El Alto.

A corporate memorandum from the Bolivian Nuclear Energy Agency (ABEN) confirmed on Monday that all the packaged components are at the Santa Cruz airport and will be transported in the coming days to the city of El Alto, where the two reactors are being built. The RB-01 reactor is scheduled to enter operation in mid-2025 and will be the highest reactor of its kind in the world (more than four thousand meters above sea level), with the aim of developing nuclear scientific research.

According to the text, these facilities will also create highly qualified human resources that will integrate the national scientific community.

The work is also designed to implement applications in the sectors of health, mining, water resources management and agriculture, and according to ABEN, due to its unique characteristics, the studies carried out in RB-01 will be an important contribution to science and technology at the global level.
