Clemson Tigers-Florida State Seminoles game postponed

Florida State and Clemson will not play on Saturday, as the team’s medical staff cannot agree with each other on moving the game forward, the ACC said in a statement.

The teams were scheduled to play in the afternoon in Tallahassee.

“We are disappointed that we will not be able to play today’s game against Florida,” Clemson told reporters. Don Radakovic tweeted. “Clemson has followed all of the ACC’s ethics in preparation for this game. We look forward to returning to action next week against Pitt for Senior Day and Military Commendation Day.”

In a statement, the league said both teams continue to adhere to the minimum defined protocols contained in the ACC Medical Advisory Committee report.

“Our first priority is the health of our student-athletes, and I appreciate the ethics set by FSU and ACC to ensure everyone’s health when allowed to play this season,” Florida State Coach Mike Norwell said in the statement. “It’s unfortunate we did not get a chance to compete today, but we hope to be able to play Clemson in December. I thank our management, Clemson and the ACC office for their support and coordination. Our team is now focused on delivering our next week in Virginia.”

ACC protocols state teams must be tested the day before the game, so both Florida State and Clemson were tested on Friday according to convention rules. Those tests are performed by an independent third party and results are obtained on the same day or at the beginning of the next day. Upon receipt of those tests, both schools receive a call with the ACC signing whether it is convenient to continue the game. This is standard before playing any ACC game.
