The Interim Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO), Lisoannette González Ruíz, reports that the Anti-Consumer Fraud Detection Unit has detected a new type of fraud involving situations with an Apple platform account on mobile phones.

As the official pointed out through written statements, “the new method focuses on sending an email to” alert “the consumer that his“ Apple ID ”has been blocked for security reasons and that it is necessary to review the data within 24 hours., by clicking on the link provided. The email also highlights that if a “correction” is not made within the specified period (24 hours), the account on this app will be permanently closed.”

González Ruíz noted that the new scheme uses language and even graphic materials, such as the logos of the computer company Apple, Inc. , in order to confuse the consumer and make them enter the link sent.

“The most complicated thing about this scheme is that it uses Apple’s logo, its mailing address in Cupertino, California, and even the language that appears in legitimate company emails. It’s a very complex scheme, which is why we urge all consumers who have received this email Evaluate the content carefully, do not enter the “Verify Account” link, and if in doubt, access the official page of the company. The scam is designed to expose your personal data to these criminal elements, ”added the acting secretary of DACO.
