The Barcelona Museum is a facility of great historical value, which in recent years has received thousands of visitors every season, specifically 1.8 million visitors annually before the pandemic, and has become the most visited in Catalonia. Since the end of the pandemic restrictions, it has recovered a large part of its activity.
In conjunction with the closure of the current museum, and due to the impact of the stadium works, the club made available the new space, which has an area of about 2,400 square meters and is divided into different areas to create a better experience for the visitor, with the aim of temporarily replacing the current Tour of the stadium and museum.
The creation of this new museum mainly responds to three objectives. Firstly, turning it into an experimental test for the application of the latest technologies and recreational activities that will be implemented in the future new museum of Spotify Camp Nou, where virtual reality, immersive activities and holograms will be put at the service of the history of the club in an entertainment environment.
On the other hand, they also want to create a space that will become a technological benchmark, as well as modernity and innovation. Finally, it seeks to protect as much as possible of the club’s important sources of income.
The project was developed with Mediapro showsto divide Mediapro Group Specializing in the creation and development of exhibition and museum projects, which has already carried out the existing museum reform in 2010.
The opening of the new space was attended by FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta. Along with Jordi Pinas, Director of the FC Barcelona Museum; and Jaume Rores, co-founder of Mediapro Group. They took part in an action that was also attended by the Minister of Culture of the General of Catalonia, Natalia Garriga, as well as other representatives of the cultural entities of the city of Barcelona.
The event started with the Barcelona Immersive Watch Tour and continued in the immersive hall, considered the largest in Europe in a sports museum. This new space is the first lot of “Espai Barça”.
