“A dream come true”: Granddaughter of 85-year-old woman describes her emotional reunion
The granddaughter of an 85-year-old woman held hostage by Hamas described her emotional reunion as a “dream come true” in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Saturday.
Yaffa Adhaar was part of the first group of hostages released by Hamas. He founded the Nir Oz Kibbutz, which has been devastated by Hamas attacks, and is the oldest person held hostage.
“I’ve been thinking about this moment for the past 50 days,” said Adwa Adhaar, who wept when he saw Yaffa for the first time.
my work [era] Do everything possible to bring her home and finally be able to see [es] All for me,” he said.
Adwa Aadhaar said that although he was excited about Patti’s return, “we are very concerned and worried about the 211 people who are still hostages, including my cousin Tamir.”
His cousin, a father of two, was kidnapped while trying to protect the kibbutz. “We’re very worried; I don’t know if he’s hurt; how they’re holding him… We have to fight for everyone, for us, for my family, and it’s not over until they’re all together. [los rehenes] They’re back.”
So far, 41 hostages have been freed in the first two days of a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. 13 Israeli citizens were released along with 11 foreigners in the initial exchange on Friday, followed by 13 Israelis and four Thai nationals on Saturday.
His release prompted emotional reunions with families following a hard-negotiated agreement between the warring parties with the help of foreign mediation.
