A Cuban woman is the protagonist of another arrest in Hialeah related to the housing project. It turns out that the island-born was arrested for fraud related to the well-known Project 8.
The person involved in the incident, a 46-year-old man, lied while claiming the benefits of the scheme. He hides the real information about his real income.
Yusleidy Figueredo did not qualify for federal housing assistance benefits, but she applied anyway. She was immediately reported by a Hialeah Housing Authority investigator. Investigations were automatically initiated and the results indicated that the losses exceeded $40,000.00 USD.
Figueredo told the Office of Public Housing that he had no bank accounts and no vehicle. As if that was not enough, he did not declare that he lived with three people in his family. A closer investigation of the case revealed that he had two companies in his name in Florida. He owns two cars, one of which is from the prestigious Mercedes-Benz brand.
Transfers, Jewelery and Investments
In addition to the above, we must add that the person involved in the scam has made several bank transfers. In addition, more valuable jewelry was found valued at over $2,500.00 USD. Cuban was already arrested last February for petty theft. After that arrest, by law, she had already lost her right to receive the government assistance she intended to receive.
Now, Figueredo has been charged with public assistance fraud. After his arrest, he was taken to TGK Jail in Miami-Dade County. There they set bond at $5,000.00 USD.
“The Hialeah Housing Authority reviews and investigates referrals, specific allegations, complaints and referrals regarding inconsistent information regarding participant families.” Julio Ponce, executive director of the Hialeah Housing Authority, commented.
