It is well known that national teams have various sources of income in these types of tournaments such as those derived from sponsorships. But, along with this, the World Cup has a guaranteed bag for all qualifiers.
from Annual Report 2020, FIFA had already announced that it would spend US$1,696 million to invest in this year’s World Cup in Qatar. Of that total, the soccer body notes, 26% goes to prizes for national teams.
This is equivalent to USD 440 million, which will be distributed at each stage of the tournament: groups, round of 16, quarter, third and fourth places and the final of the World Cup.
How much has each World Cup team raised?

Initially, the organization indicated that “all teams will contribute USD 1.5 million to cover expenses incurred in production before the tournament.”

- 13 million USD for those in the round of 16
- Quarter-finalists, USD 17 million
- Morocco, who finished fourth in the World Cup, will receive US$25 million
- Third place, Croatia, $27 million
- Runner-up France will receive USD 30 million
- And Qatar 2022 champion Argentina will win USD 42 million
Therefore, participating in this year’s World Cup will earn the teams 1.5 million USD and 9 million USD if they stay in the group stage; That means each team will have a minimum of US$10.5 million to play in Qatar.
