The Minister of Culture values ​​the contribution of contemporary art as an engine of development in the region.

The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Nuria Flores Redondo, has valued the contribution of contemporary art as an engine of development in the region and has reaffirmed the commitment of the regional government in the dissemination of contemporary creation.

The counselor highlighted the good reception that the recent opening of the museum has had among the public, which has already received more than 7,700 visits and is “positioning the region in a place of reference in the context of international contemporary art.”

He thanked the work of Helga de Alvear and all those who have contributed to the launch of this museum center that “goes beyond the borders of Cáceres and Extremadura, becoming a strong cultural and tourist attraction.”

The exhibition ‘More than space’ is curated by María Jesús Ávila and presents 31 works from the Helga de Alvear collection that are presented in the premises of the Casa Grande of the museum, resuming the program of temporary exhibitions that had been taking place there during the last decade.

The exhibition invites the observation of the building and reflection on the space through the works of 28 artists made from the second half of the 20th century to the present, with a wide variety of formats, languages ​​and materials.

The catalog is made up, among others, of the sculpture works of Cristina Iglesias, Juan Muñoz, Susana Solano and José Pedro Croft, the audiovisual work of Gordon Matta-Clark and Gregor Schneider, photographic works of Blinky Palermo, Gray Crawford and John Hilliard, the collages of Jesús Palomino and Mario Merz or the painting of Günther Förg and Clay Ketter.

It also includes the structures by Heimo Zobernig or the lightness of the installation by Fred Sandback, as well as works by Marlon de Azambuja, Jorge Pardo, Cécile Bart and Carlos Caraicoa.

The exhibition can be visited until July.
