Apple is developing a “thin” or “slim” iPhone to launch in September 2025, as it will be the iPhone 17. The model is also said to be the most expensive to date and will surpass the Pro Max flagship.
iPhone developers will consider several designs, such as an aluminum frameAccording to The Information, there is a hole and a small cutout for the front camera hardware and a center-mounted rear camera.
For his part, analyst Jeff Pu notes: These will be the sizes for this iPhone 17:
- iPhone 17: 6.1-inch screen
- iPhone 17 Slim: 6.6-inch screen
- iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3-inch screen
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.9-inch screen
In terms of performance and specifications, Pu mentions:
- iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim: 8GB RAM, A18 or A19 chip
- iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max: 12 GB RAM, A19 Pro chip
Currently, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models are equipped with 6 GB of RAM, while the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max devices have 8 GB of RAM.
On the other hand, The iPhone 17 Pro Max will have the smallest dynamic island possible thanks to a new technology called “MetalLens”. This would allow Apple to significantly reduce the size of the Face ID sensor.
For now, focus should be on the launch on the second Tuesday of September 2024. On that date, Apple is expected to launch the new iPhone 16 models.
As usual, rumors are already rife about what this mobile phone will look like. Analyst Ming-Chi Guo has revealed based on his latest supply chain research that the iPhone 16 Pro Max battery will increase energy storage capacity. It lasts longer without changing the battery size.
Apple uses a stainless steel battery case as a thermal solution to prevent the battery from overheating. According to the researcher:
Stainless steel does not dissipate heat as effectively as aluminum, but it provides greater strength and is less susceptible to corrosion. Additionally, a stainless steel battery case makes battery removal easy, helping Apple comply with EU regulations for battery replacement in mobile devices.
According to other rumours, this model will include a brighter 6.9-inch display, an improved camera setup and a capture button.
One of the major and potential changes is the inclusion of an action button on all models, complemented by a new capacitive hold button.
This grip button promises to significantly improve the user interface, providing optimal haptic feedback through integration with Apple's Taptic Engine.
Another notable feature is the possible reconfiguration of the camera lens system. The rumored vertical configuration will not only improve the device's photography functionality, but also facilitate stereoscopic video recording and playback.
This feature will be significant for users of the Apple Vision Pro headset, which highlights the integration between various Apple devices and platforms.
According to rumors, the Pro models of the iPhone 16 will receive a major update to the ultrawide lens, which will reach 48 megapixels. This improvement will make it possible to record videos in 4K resolution.
To see the potential content of these rumors, we'll have to wait until September, the month Apple usually unveils the iPhone.
