(CNN Spanish) — Boni, the third hurricane in the Pacific this season, strengthened to a Category 3 on Tuesday, Mexico’s National Water Authority (Conagua) said.
According to Conagua, Boni threatens to bring heavy rains to the states of Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco and Michoacán.
According to Conacqua, Boni has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour and gustiness of 220 kilometers per hour.
As a storm, Boni made landfall in the Caribbean on the Costa Rica-Nicaragua border on Friday, left little damage, and entered the Pacific on Saturday, entering the Gulf of Mexico.
Conacua has warned that the rains from Cyclone Boni will cause flash floods.

“The rainfall produced by this system may increase the level of rivers and streams, and cause flooding and flooding in Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco and Michoacán, for which people should heed the warnings of the National Meteorological Service (SMN). According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center’s forecast, Bonnie will continue to move near the Mexican coast, but with a westward trend beginning this Wednesday.
