JW Marriott brand to open new hotel in San Salvador

This is the first time this luxury version of Marriott has arrived in the country thanks to Real Hotels & Resort, which already operates this version in other countries in the region.

Real Hotels & Resorts, the hotel division of Grupo Poma, and Marriott International representatives announced the construction of a JW Marriott hotel in San Salvador, the luxury version of the chain.

The agreement was signed by Ricardo Poma, President of Grupo Poma, Fernando Poma, CEO of Real Hotels & Resorts, and Laurent De Kossemaker, Chief Development Officer for the Caribbean and Latin America at Marriott International.

According to the information provided, the new hotel is located in the Multiplaza shopping center complex in Antiguo Cuscatlán. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025 and will last approximately three years.

During the signing of the agreement, Ricardo Poma expressed his first impressions of this new project: “This hotel will be a benchmark of luxury and hospitality and, together with other developments that we will announce soon, will represent the culmination of the main project of the Multiplaza San Salvador multipurpose complex, which began about 25 years ago, and we are certain that it will be a great success among our guests and a very significant contribution to the development of the city.

Meanwhile, Kossemaeker, Chief Development Officer for the Caribbean and Latin America at Marriott International, confirmed his confidence in Real Hotels & Resorts, one of the best hotel operators in the region.

About the hotel chain

JW Marriott is part of Marriott International's luxury portfolio of brands and is named after Marriott International's founder, J. Willard “J.W.” Marriott.

Today, there are approximately 125 JW Marriott hotels operating in 40 countries. In Latin America and the Caribbean, they have 17 of these hotels.

The new hotel in El Salvador will have 186 rooms, including standard rooms, double rooms and suites.

“In addition, the hotel will feature three unique restaurants, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, a spa with a private pool and wet areas on the third floor, an outdoor pool and bar on the same level, spacious ballrooms and conference rooms, an executive lounge on the 15th floor, and an underground parking lot with a capacity of 354 vehicles.

The 16-storey building will be designed by prestigious architecture firm CallisonRTKL, which has offices in the Netherlands and the US. The interior will be designed by US firm Watermark.
