Las Palmas City Council will create a “digital shadow” space on Las Canteras Beach

The City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has launched a public tender for the “Digital Shadow” space project in the La Secer area, on Las Canteras beach, with a base budget of 74,671.34 euros.

According to the institution in a statement, it will be during a two-month implementation period, promoted by the Ciudad de Mar Council and developed by the Urban Planning, Development and Housing Area through the Jersa Municipal Assembly, which has published the tender documents through a simplified open procedure, with a deadline for submitting offers until July 12.

The City Council explains that this space will be located in La Cícer, on Numancia Street, and aims to “create a space where the public can enjoy the Internet via Wi-Fi”, equipped with benches and individual seats, and also, add that the area will contain information about the beach and its surroundings.

To carry out the work, the municipal government explained that it “will require opening trenches, implementing inspection chambers, installing mupi, restoring the sidewalk, installing fiber optic and Ethernet equipment and installing and connecting ‘new lights’.”

Ciudad de Mar City Councillor Pedro Quevedo stressed that this project aims to provide the city with progress in the “smart beach” strategy on Las Canteras beach. In addition, Quevedo pointed out that the City Council has just presented the application LPA Beach“An innovative and very useful digital solution for citizens, thanks to the development of the Ciudad de Mar Intelligent Management System, which is about continuing to create tools for the 21st century coast.”

The initiative is included in the municipality’s Digital Agenda 2021-2025. A plan to “advance to a more modern city” through the digital transformation of public service delivery.

For his part, the general coordinator of modernization, Roberto Moreno, stated that “it is about continuing to develop measures that add to the integration of technological tools in public services. This agenda aims to respond to the strategic map consisting of 6 axes and 25 objectives with the aim of achieving the best model of a residential city.”
