MIAMI, Florida – Potential Tropical Cyclone 13 became a tropical depression Thursday as it moved through the Caribbean Sea toward the coast of Nicaragua, bringing heavy rain to the ABC Islands and Colombia’s La Guajira Peninsula.
According to him 5 a.m. ET bulletin From the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the system is located 35 miles southeast of La Guajira Peninsula, Colombia, and 700 miles east of Providencia Island, Colombia.
The potential tornado has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and is moving west at 15 mph.
According to NHC forecasts, the tropical depression will move westward by Sunday the 13th and will pass near the coasts of the ABC Islands, the Lesser Antilles and northwestern Venezuela and the La Guajira Peninsula.
The system may strengthen and become Tropical Storm Julia this Friday.
On Sunday, the hurricane could approach the coast of Nicaragua with the force of a hurricane.
