Mark Zuckerberg enters the exclusive $200 billion club and becomes the fourth richest person in the world

(CNN) – Beware Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault, Mark Zuckerberg is gaining more ground.

Recent numbers from Bloomberg Billionaires Index They show that Zuckerberg increased his personal wealth to $73.4 billion in 2024, reaching $201 billion. Meta's CEO is the fourth-richest person in the world, joining an exclusive $200 billion club that has just three members.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla X ($272 billion); Bezos ($211 billion), founder of Amazon; And Arnault ($207 billion), CEO of luxury brand LVMH, are the only ones ahead of Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg (40 years old), who launched Facebook in 2004, owns much of his wealth Linked to Meta Platforms actions. Meta (META) shares are up nearly 64% in 2024. On Wednesday, Meta shares rose 0.9% to close at an all-time high of $568.31. On Friday, it fell to $567.36.

Meta operates the popular social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and Threads, as well as the instant messaging app WhatsApp.

Speaking on Wednesday at the Meta Connect 2024 event, Zuckerberg said that Meta AI is on track to become the most widely used assistant in the world.

“We have close to 500 million monthly active users, and we haven't launched yet in some of the biggest countries,” Zuckerberg said, referring to European Union countries.

Zuckerberg isn't the only tech mogul to see his wealth increase this year. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, and Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle, saw their net worth increase in 2024 by $62.2 billion and $58.6 billion, respectively.
