More than 3,000 Cubans Immigrate to US in 2024 Visa Lottery

Three thousand and eighty-one Cubans won the 2024 visa lottery to immigrate to the United States, according to State Department data. This number sets a record for the so-called “HYPE,” which allows you to move to the U.S. and quickly obtain permanent residence or a green card.

According to the official statement, these benefited Cubans will face a lengthy process before making the journey to the United States. For example, the first step is a consular interview at the US Embassy in Havana. As part of the summit, you will be issued an established visa to travel to US soil.

In general, 143 thousand people from all over the world were lucky in the latest operation of the 2024 diversity visa program. Last year from October 5 to November 8, 22 million 185 thousand 619 interested parties applied for the draw. The results, as known, are obtained through a random process supported by the software.

requirements

The consular process is very strict, therefore, out of the total number of lucky ones, only 50,000 can get a visa and travel to the US. For example, every applicant must fulfill all the legal requirements indicated.

The most common requirements include high school graduation or two years of work experience within the last five years. As for the interview, a criminal and security background check is included. Although the process is long and tedious, it is one of the fastest and most direct ways to become a legal resident of the United States.

In the most recent program, Cuba established a historic record in the Latin American, Caribbean and Central American region. Never in the previous “bombs” had a country reached three thousand conquerors from that geographic area.
