More than 873,000 CenterPoint customers still in the dark in Houston – NBC Houston

HOUSTON – Centerpoint-sponsored crews continue at full speed to restore power lines in the Houston area after Hurricane Beryl passed.

Electricity service was restored this Wednesday to the first million customers affected by the strong winds that lashed the metropolitan area last Monday.

After the hurricane, more than 1.1 million customers lost electric service delivered by CenterPoint. This includes customers under Entergy in the northern part of the metropolitan area.

Multiple damage to power lines led to the collapse of the power grid for much of the Houston metropolitan area.

Thousands of families are still without electricity in their homes.

“We are committed to working at full speed to restore service as quickly and safely as possible, so nearly 12,000 resources have been mobilized to support this process,” the company said in a statement to the public late Monday.

One of the priorities of service restructuring efforts relates to the customers who provide health and safety services.

However, it is estimated that there will be thousands of people who will spend several days without electricity service.

Centerpoint encourages customers to join the Power Alert service system so that they can receive details and updates about the restoration process.
