Netflix will charge a fee for using accounts in additional households

The Netflix platform has announced that starting next month it will charge an additional fee to “use” an account at a home away from the original home where the streaming service is installed.

Through communications sent to its users, Netflix said it will add an operation in Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and the Dominican Republic starting in August. It’s called “Add a House”.

We want our members to enjoy Netflix movies and series so much that they want to share them with others. However, at present, it is a common practice to share different accounts It affects our long-term ability for families to invest in and improve our service. Therefore, we are carefully analyzing various possibilities so that those who wish to share their account can do so by paying an additional fee. One home per account: All Netflix accounts, regardless of plan, include access from one home to continue enjoying Netflix on any device.

Use of a Netflix account in additional households will incur a cost US$219 per month per household. Basic plan members can add an additional home; Up to two additional homes in the Standard Plan, and up to three additional homes in the Premium Plan; Away from home on a tablet, laptop or mobile device.
