Within the framework of the celebrations for the four years of the Plaza Cielo Tierra Scientific Interpretation CenterThis morning the work of systematization of entry and exit to the property, the merchandising store and new scientific instruments was inaugurated.
The new entrance through Chacabuco at 1300 will allow visitors to access in a more organized way and guarantee a careful visit for all Cordobans.
In addition, the merchandising products store where scientific games and ornaments are for sale was officially launched. New scientific instruments such as the Rubens Tube, Mysterious Pendulum, Ames Window, Newton’s Pendulum, Tensegrity Structure and the presentation of the 360 ° function were also inaugurated.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Education, Walter Grahovac, stated that the Plaza “It is a space that unites science with citizens and the intention of sharing knowledge.”
In this sense, the holder of the educational portfolio valued: “Thousands of girls and boys were able to visit the space. It means a lot for a teacher or for a professor to raise a theme, come to the Plaza, see instruments, project into the future and be able to motivate the students who, through this space, can appropriate knowledge and something that many times it is imaginary ”.
For his part, the director of the Plaza Cielo Tierra, Daniel Barraco, indicated that “It is always said that young people are the future and that is true, but that future will depend on what we teachers do.” In this sense, he announced that three mobile planetariums will be installed that will travel throughout the province to represent a true federalism.
Also present were the ministers of Coordination, Silvia Rivero, and Science and Technology, Pablo de Chiara; the secretary of Administrative Management of the educational portfolio, Luciano Garavaglia; the municipal education secretary, Horacio Ferreyra, together with the undersecretary, María José Viola and Cecilia Ames, deputy director of the UNC’s Secretariat for Science and Technology, among other provincial, municipal and academic authorities.
What is Plaza Cielo Tierra?
The Scientific Interpretation Center is a joint initiative of the National University of Córdoba and the Government of the Province, whose main objective is to encourage public communication of science and technology. Located in the Parque de Las Tejas in the city of Córdoba, the space offers to enjoy, observe, discover and explore different natural phenomena and learn more about science and history. It is mainly intended for scientific activities, promoting the education and training of both children and young people and adults.
