Santo Domingo.- The National Electoral Commission (CNE) of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) has announced the election of 495 candidates at the municipal level for the February 2024 elections, by acclamation through the Regional Assembly.
Ruben Pichara, coordinator of the CNE, said that the elections for 52 mayors, 96 directors, 191 councilors and 156 members were formalized.
At the press conference at the National House of the PLD this Monday, Margarita Pimentel, Robert De la Cruz, Thelma Eusebio, Aquilina Figueroa, Elías Cornelio, María Alcántara, Karina Flete, Lina Mercedes and Sonia Bidó are CNE members.
Candidates for mayors
He said the mayoral candidates include Luis Alberto Tejeda for Santo Domingo Este, Victor Fatul; Santiago, Lenin de la Rosa, San Juan de la Macuana; Sergio Cedeño, San Pedro de Macorís; Teresa Yanova, Godui and Tabare Rodriguez Mao.
Likewise, Ruben Dario Cruz in Hado Mayor, Teodoro Reyes in La Romana, Fiortalisa Picardo in Bonao, Fermin Brito in Boca Chica, Cabral, Pepe Ferreiras in Barahona; Leonidas Sena in Mella, Sofia Tejada in Restoration, Afif Rizek, Tenares; Joselito Espinal in Moncion, Jose Miguel Mendez of Villa Altagracia.
Similarly, 96 candidates were elected as directors of district boards, 191 councilors covering 52 municipalities and 156 members in 83 municipal districts.
Elections were held in regional councils under the supervision of the Central Electoral Board in Mao, Santiago, San Francisco de Macorís, San Pedro de Macorís, Azua, Barahona, San Cristóbal and Reynaldo Parede Perez National House in the National District.
“Enthusiasm, solidarity, respect and internal unity prevailed in the election of candidates, strengthening democracy by promoting consensus, uniting ideas and efforts towards a common goal: winning the 2024 municipal, congressional and presidential elections,” Pichara said. .
